As she participated to a writing workshop at La Plateforme close to Nantes, June Caravel met Michele Dore. He’s Italian and June is half Italian. They are given a text and they must elaborate from there what’s coming next. June thinks about the song Bella Ciao while reading the excerpt and discovers that the lyrics for this so popular tune were written end of 1944 que ce chant si populaire dont les paroles ont été écrites fin 1944 but that the song was sung prior to that at the beginning og the XXth century by the mondine, these seasonal workers who weeded the rice fields of the Pô plain in Italy to denounce their working conditions.
