A show in a cinema
Show length: 10mn
Every year, the Alice Guy prize honours a movie made by a woman. It’s also the occasion to celebrate the womanwho invented the concept of cinema and the first director in the world: Alice Guy. June Caravel was asked ot compose the music of 5 mini mute movies of Alice Guy:
– Alice Guy tourne une photoscène (1907)
– La femme collante (1906)
– 3 excerpts of Christ’s birth, life and death (1906) : Jesus’ sleep, Marie-Magdeleine washes Jesus’ feet, The resurrection.
Drawing from her own mute film references, June composed the music but also synchronized songs she had previously written on the 3 excerpts of Christ’s birth, life and death (1906) : Jesus’ sleep, Marie-Magdeleine washes Jesus’ feet, The resurrection.: My angel, a balad, Sent from Heaven et Let the joy burst in our hearts for which she adapted the lyrics.
She performed this program at the cinema Max Linder in Paris on 04/04/24.
